The Star Office Suite |
|
Office 2003 Standard Edition is more of an evolution than a major rewrite of Microsoft Office. The XML support and links into Sharepoint Server and InfoPath in the Professional release are very big news for enterprise users, but the Student and Teacher edition, although lacking these features, does still represent amazing value. Many of the reviewers have rightly highlighted the improvements to the Outlook interface and the new spam filtering algorithms, which by themselves provide a strong argument for upgrading. Overall, a brilliant package.

Really Good + Easy to Register |
|
Office Student Edition is a brilliant product as expected. My biggest surprise however was the ease at which the student edition is registered, software comes in pack and you simply need to call a free 0800 number or you can do it online (both ways are really quick and simple), Excellent.

Protest and Survive |
I really get annoyed at the increasingly restricted range of software microsoft provides. I want Office 2003. But I want Access too. As an educator I think I should recommend my students to start buying competing products until Microsoft get the message that students need a relational database for their academic courses. I dont mind paying a bit extra for Access, but dont think the price charged makes it economic. Change to Star Office or Open Office if Microsoft continue these restrictive student deals.
